Promo Banner

Promo Banner is the bar above the site header. You set it up once per language, and it appears on every page of that language, including blog and download pages.

Each campaign is one story in its language’s promo banner folder: <language>/globals/promo-banner/. For Spanish that is es/globals/promo-banner/, for German de/globals/promo-banner/. Use the short language code, es and not es-ES. In the sidebar the folder is shown as Promo Banner.

An empty folder means no banner.

  1. Open your language’s promo banner folder.
  2. Create a new story and choose the content type Promo Banner. Name it after the campaign, for example Black Friday 2026.
  3. Under Messages, add at least one message with a Text. Optionally add a Button label and Button link.
  4. Set the schedule, countdown and region if you need them.
  5. Publish. The site rebuilds automatically, and the banner is live in about five minutes.
  1. Open the campaign and expand the Countdown group.
  2. Enable Show countdown.
  3. Optionally enter a Countdown label, for example Offer ends in.
  4. Make sure the countdown has a date: either Ends at in the Scheduling group, or a separate Countdown to.
  5. Publish.

The countdown sits next to the messages and stays visible while they rotate. It shows days, hours, minutes and seconds, for example 3 Tage 04 Std 47 Min 59 Sek on a German page. Days are written out, and the unit labels follow the page language. Days are left out in the last 24 hours. It disappears when it reaches zero.

By default it counts down to Ends at, so the countdown and the banner end together. Use Countdown to when the offer ends before the banner should disappear: the countdown then vanishes at zero and the banner stays until Ends at. Without any date, no countdown is shown.

Only one banner is shown per page. The site picks it like this:

  1. Ignore campaigns for a different region.
  2. Ignore campaigns whose Ends at has passed.
  3. Of the rest, show the one with the latest Starts at.

A new campaign therefore takes over from an older one without you unpublishing it.

Set Starts at in the future and publish: the banner stays hidden until that moment.

You want to Do this
Hide the banner on one page On the page, enable Hide global promo banner.
Show a different banner on one page On the page, choose a campaign in Promo banner override.

Check these in order:

  1. Content type: the story must be a Promo Banner.
  2. Folder: the story must be in <language>/globals/promo-banner/.
  3. Published: a draft does not appear on the live website.
  4. Schedule: a Starts at in the future or an Ends at in the past hides the banner.
  5. Region: a German banner with Visible in region set to AT does not show in Germany or Switzerland.
  6. Another campaign wins: a campaign with a later Starts at takes over.

If only you cannot see it, you may have closed it earlier. Open the site in a private window.
