Resource Grid
Resource Grid shows a set of resource cards (articles, e-books, videos, podcasts, webinars, success stories). You decide two things: which resources appear (Filter Mode) and how they are laid out (Variant).
The cards themselves are set up on each resource. See Resources and resource cards.
Choose which resources appear
Section titled “Choose which resources appear”Filter Mode has three options.
| Filter Mode | Which resources appear | Fields that are used |
|---|---|---|
| Fixed | Only the resources selected in Items. | Items |
| Tags | Resources loaded automatically from the page’s language. | Tags, Categories, Types |
| Filter | Same automatic selection as Tags. Visitors can also narrow it with a Resource Filter on the same page. | Tags, Categories, Types |
Without a Resource Filter on the page, Tags and Filter show exactly the same cards.
- Set Filter Mode to Fixed.
- In Items, choose the resources to show.
Tags, Categories and Types are ignored in this mode.
Things to know about Fixed:
- The order you pick in Items is not the order on the website. Cards appear in the order the resources are sorted in their Storyblok folder (the manual drag-and-drop order in the content list).
- No Index on a resource does not remove it. A resource you select always appears.
- Only choose resources from the page’s own language folder. For example, on a French page, choose resources from
fr/…. A resource from another language still shows its own text, but its card link leads to a page that does not exist in this language. - Selected resources that are not published do not appear on the live website.
Tags and Filter (automatic)
Section titled “Tags and Filter (automatic)”In both automatic modes, the website loads every resource that matches all of the following conditions:
- It is in the same language as the page. A French page only shows resources from the
fr/folder. - It is not marked No Index. Resources with No Index switched on never appear in automatic grids.
- Tags: if you choose tags, the resource carries at least one of them. With
DACHanddownload regularselected, a resource tagged onlyDACHis shown. If Tags is empty, this condition is skipped. - Categories: if you choose one category, the resource’s Resource Category must be that category.
- Types: if you choose one type, the resource’s Resource Type must be that type.
A resource’s tags are set in its Config tab under Tags. Tags are shared by all languages, so the same tag works on every language version.
Categories and types exist once per language, for example /de/resources/types/video and /fr/resources/types/video. Choose the category or type from the page’s own language folder. A German type selected on a French page matches nothing.
If nothing matches, the grid still shows its title, description and links, but no cards and no pagination.
Order of automatic results
Section titled “Order of automatic results”Automatic grids show the most recently published resource first. The date that counts is the resource’s latest publish, not its first publish:
- Republishing an older resource, even for a small typo fix, moves it to the front.
- Sort by date and First published date in the resource’s Config tab do not affect the order.
Choose the layout
Section titled “Choose the layout”Variant and Columns control how the cards are arranged.
Carousel
Section titled “Carousel”A single row of cards that visitors swipe or drag sideways. There are no arrow buttons.
- Fixed: shows all selected resources.
- Tags / Filter: shows only the newest 3 or 4 resources (3 with 3 Columns, 4 with 4 Columns). Older matches are not reachable from the carousel.
- Per Page, Previous Label and Next Label are ignored.
On phones, about one card is visible at a time, with the next one peeking in. On tablets, two cards are visible.
Pagination
Section titled “Pagination”A grid of cards with page buttons below it.
- Fixed: shows all selected resources on one page, without page buttons.
- Tags / Filter: shows all matching resources, split into pages.
Pagination settings, in the Pagination group:
| Field | Default | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| Per Page | 12 with 4 Columns, 9 with 3 Columns | Number of cards per page. |
| Previous Label | Previous |
Text on the back button. Enter it in the page’s language. |
| Next Label | Next |
Text on the forward button. Enter it in the page’s language. |
The page buttons are hidden when everything fits on one page. On large screens, visitors see numbered page buttons. On phones, they see 2 / 5 between the back and forward buttons.
Changing pages swaps the cards in place. The current page is not stored in the address, so reloading the page or sharing the link starts on page 1.
On phones, the grid always shows one card per row.
Field reference
Section titled “Field reference”| Field | Default | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| Eyebrow | empty | Small line above the title. Only shown when Title is filled. |
| Title | empty | Section heading. If it is empty, the whole heading area, including Eyebrow and Description, is hidden. |
| Description | empty | Text under the title. Only shown when Title is filled. |
| Anchor | empty | Jump target for links, for example e-books for #e-books. |
| Variant | Carousel | Carousel or Pagination. See Choose the layout. |
| Columns | 4 Columns | Cards per row on large screens. It also sets how many cards an automatic carousel shows, and the default Per Page. |
| Filter Mode | Fixed | Fixed, Tags or Filter. See Choose which resources appear. |
| Per Page, Previous Label, Next Label | see above | Pagination settings. Only used by Pagination with Tags or Filter. |
| Tags | empty | Automatic modes only. Shows resources that carry at least one of these tags. |
| Categories | empty | Automatic modes only. Select at most one. |
| Types | empty | Automatic modes only. Select at most one. |
| Items | empty | Fixed mode only. The resources to show. |
| Links | empty | Buttons centered below the cards, for example “All e-books”. |
| Background, Top Transition, Top Padding, Bottom Transition, Bottom Padding | Surface, none, Large, none, Large | Section appearance, in the Section group. |
| Visible In Region | empty (everywhere) | Shows the whole grid only in the selected countries. |
| Visible For Languages | empty (all) | Shows the whole grid only in the selected languages. |
Visible In Region and Visible For Languages
Section titled “Visible In Region and Visible For Languages”Both settings are read from the page address. On /de-AT/…, the region is Austria and the language is German. On /en-AT/…, the region is Austria and the language is English.
- Leave a setting empty to show the grid everywhere.
- Region is checked first. If the region is not selected, the grid is hidden regardless of the language setting.
- A hidden grid shows nothing at all, including its title and links.
Check these settings when you copy a grid from a German page into another language. A grid limited to Austria, Germany and Switzerland, or to German, disappears on a Spanish or Italian page.
When changes appear
Section titled “When changes appear”- Live website: only published resources appear. Publishing a resource or a page starts a website rebuild, and grids update when the rebuild finishes.
- Storyblok preview: unpublished resources and unsaved draft changes can appear in automatic grids. Preview can therefore show more cards than the live website.
Common questions
Section titled “Common questions”A resource is missing from an automatic grid. Check that it is published and in the page’s language folder, and that No Index is off. Check that it carries at least one of the grid’s Tags and has the grid’s category and type. In a carousel, only the newest 3 or 4 resources are shown.
The grid is empty. Check whether more than one category or type is selected, and whether the category or type comes from another language folder.
The whole grid, including its title, is gone. Check Visible In Region and Visible For Languages.
A fixed grid shows cards in the wrong order. The order follows the resources’ order in their Storyblok folder, not the Items field.
